Seed to Elegance: Kentia Palms of Norfolk Island, South Pacific, is a small book containing a thorough compilation of all the information the author gained during his 28 years of working with Kentia palms.
Seed to Elegance begins with the complete history and development of Kentia palm plantations and the growing popularity of these elegant plants, beginning with the Victorian era up through present-day. It describes the growing, harvesting, and distribution of Kentias, as well as designing with Kentias and their care and maintenance. Seed to Elegance is replete with beautiful antique photographs and modern-day images of Kentias that perfectly illustrate each section of the book and also showcase the widespread use of these hardy palms in indoor and outdoor landscapes throughout the world.
The author of Seed to Elegance is Australian Kevin Williams, an interior landscaper in Detroit, Michigan who lived on Norfolk Island for 28 years, where he exported Kentia seedlings worldwide. During his 25 years as a Kentia grower and broker, Williams traveled to study Kentia Palm production in many parts of the Pacific, U.S. and Europe. He co-owned a Kentia palm growing business in Michigan which grew Kentias under full cover.
